The East Jordan Portside Art and Historical Society, Inc. extends an invitation to you to attend the 46TH annual juried Portside Arts Fair on Saturday, August 2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, August 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The outdoor fair will be presented on the shores of the south arm of Lake Charlevoix at the East Jordan Elm Pointe Estate, a Michigan Historic site. (Elm Pointe is located 1-1/2 miles north of East Jordan at 01656 S M-66 Hwy.) Ample parking is provided across the road. Volunteers are available to help unload on Saturday and to booth sit during the fair.

ELIGIBILITY
Participation is open to all artists and craftspeople who exhibit work of original concept, design and execution. All work must be original. No work will be exhibited which has been made with the use of commercial kits, molds, patterns, plans, stencils or prefabricated forms. The Fair seeks to maintain the highest standards for both artists and viewing public.

MEDIA
Mixed media, fine arts only. Original work – no hobby crafts or greenware. Painting in all media, print making, photography, digital art, basketry, weaving, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, wood carving, scrimshaw and glass making.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Send 3 slides of work for jurying and a slide of your booth UNLESS you exhibited in 2007. (Include S.A.S.E. for return of slides.) $100 per 10’x12’ assigned space. Portside is limited to 85 entries. Deadline is March 1, 2008. Notification is approx. one month later. You must exhibit Saturday and Sunday. Cancellations are non-refundable.

AWARDS
A professional juror will award ribbons and purchase prizes totaling $1,000 for 2D and 3D entries. PURCHASE PRIZES in each category become the property of Portside Arts’ permanent gallery collection.

SALES
Portside does not charge commission fees. Artists must submit 6% Michigan Sales Tax directly to the State. Forms will be distributed at the Fair.

LIABILITY
All exhibits to be shown at the owner’s risk. Exhibitors are responsible for their own displays. Portside reserves the right to refuse any entry inconsistent with submitted slides.

ADVERTISING
Paid ads on the Weather Channel regional trailer, in art fair/tourist publications, local/regional/state newspapers; artist postcards, posters, road signage, event websites and radio/TV public service announcements.
